Customer Support: Download Questions

Which of the the 3 movies formats should I use? |
In the Elite Movie Pass Members area, you have 3 different formats available for each movie. You can download whichever format is best for your system and your needs :
XviD : This format requires the XviD Free codec to be installed on your computer, in order to get the movies to play properly, you can download the XviD Codec HERE. The video quality of the XviD movies is the best, it can be watched full screen and it's very close to the DVD quality. The only inconvenience would be that the file is big, so you may need at least a broadband connection (dsl or better) to use that format. That means, if you want the best quality movies and have a good connection, the XviD is your format of choice!
Mpeg : This format doesn't require any codec to be installed on your computer, that means, no matter which Operating System you're using, the movies will definitely play. The Mpeg quality is very good, even though the it's not as good as the XviD format. The files in mpeg are also quite heavy, so you may need a broadband connection (dsl or better) to download this format of movies, since you need to download the movie before watching it. The mpeg format would be your format of choice if you can't make the XviD version of the movie to play and still require a good video quality.
WMV : You need Windows Media Player to play the WMV format. This player is automatically installed on your computer, so you don't need to install it if you're using any kind of Windows Operation System. However, you may need to update it so you can enjoy all the latest features of the softwares. The big plus of that format is that you can stream the movie. This means you don't have to download the file before watching the movie - you just click on PLAY and it starts! Note that you can also download it in order to save the movie on your computer for viewing later. The files are also very light with the WMV format, so it's perfect for modem users. The WMV would be your format of choice if you don't have a broadband connection or if you want to stream the movie.
Here is table to summarize the format(s) you should download, depending on your OS and your connection/needs. This table is just a help ... if you want to download the XviD Version if you have a MAC for example, it still works ... it's up to what you can play and what you want to play.

Whats the best way to download the movies? |
There are different methods to download but the one that works the best is the Right Click Method. To download a movie, you just have to Right Click on the movie link and then select "Save target as". You'll be prompted to choose a place where to store the movie on your Hard Drive (remember where you download it of course!), and then the download will start. To play the movie, you'll simply have to double click on the file once its completely downloaded. Note that if you left click on the link, your media player will generally pop up, and then you wont be able to save the movie on your hard drive, and for some media players, you won't even be able to see the movie. If you have any problem viewing the movies after downloading them, please read the questions concerning video playing problems.. |

I just want to play the movies and not download them? |
If you have a slow connection or simply don't want to wait for a movie to be downloaded, we have the movie format that fits your needs. From a DVD page, simply click on "PLAY" or select the WMV format. Then, you'll be able to stream the movie (it downloads it as you're playing it). The only thing to note is that the quality isn't as good as the XviD or the MPG format that we also have at Elite Movie Pass. |

After downloading Windows Media Player opens and the video doesn't play? |
You have to make sure to download the movie on your hard drive before watching it - to download, right click on the movie link and choose "save target as" (more information on Question #2 located at the top of this page). When it's downloaded, just double click on the movie file to watch it. Check out our "Video Playing" page. If you have only sound or only video, you'll have to download the proper codec to view the movies. |

Opening a .wmv scene doesn't play in Windows Media Player? |
The .WMV format is best seen with Windows Media Player but some other applications can play this format. However, some applications also take over this format and can't play it (like Winamp / real player or so). To fix this problem, we then have to setup the .wmv format to be viewed through Windows Media Player. To do this with Windows XP, just right click onto a wmv file and then select "opens with" and then, "choose the program". Finally, select Windows Media Player and check the box "always open with that program". If this doesn't work, you can also update your Windows Media Player, update your Windows Media Player HERE. |
